Does anyone know of or have a 10mm Carbine or Rifle?

I don't want to have to refinance my home to buy or have something built but I would like a 16 to 18 inch barrel on a carbine or rifle that will shoot and feed my 10mm ammo. I don't care for the AR15 conversion as the sights are to high above the barrel. If anyone knows some one that has converted something to 10mm at a fair price, I would like to know where to begin.
Thank you.

There's the MechTec which converts a pistol to carbine or an AR upper conversion. I've read about a company called LeMag that once converted M1 Carbines but has since stopped. I would love to get an M1 Carbine in 10mm but I don't know of anybody who is currently making such a wonderful firearm. There's a company in England that converts Enfields but they cost more than $1000 each.

Good luck and let me know if you hear anything or can get a quatity buy.

10mm carbine

I kept hoping that Marlin or Ruger would have a 9mm carbine that could be converted to 10mm by a good gunsmith. Does anyone know if this would be possible?

I spoke with a couple of gunsmiths and the 9mm and 40 cal are much less powerful than the 10mm. As such they can be chambered in a blowback operating system. A 10mm carbine would need to have a gas system such as the AR or M1 carbines. The FBI did have a Thompson SMG chambered in 10mm but as I recall from my days as a Lt. the T-SMG was a blowback but weighed so much it could handle the recoil. The Ruger and Marlin are all blowback. I have even looked into rebarrelling a level gun but have not found a barrel manufacturer that works in 10mm.

10mm Carbine

Thanks, I haven't found any gunsmiths in this area that would even talk about any conversion to 10mm. If you hear of a gunsmith that has a way to convert or make a 10mm carbine, I'd like to talk to him/her.

Your answer is a flat top (A3) style AR-15.

Mount the optic of your choice and you'll be fine. If the flot top upper you purchase has a typical riser front sight they are easily removed and replaced with a simple gas block without the sight.

Sticking with the AR system gives you all the accessory options you could dream of and the excellent trigger pull the AR is capable of with the right lower.

10mm carbine or rifle

Brent,
I might try that but I may try the CCU first. Main reason is I already have a 1911 I don't shoot much and the CCU by MECH TECH is $339.00 If I go with the AR I'd have to buy one then the conversion. I think I'll try the cheaper way first. I really do wish someone would build a nice 10mm rifle or carbine though. Thanks for the suggestion though, I might have to go that way but later.

I think you'll be happy with the Mec if it runs. I had friends who used them for pistol caliber carbine courses at IPSC matches in both .38 Super and .40 and they were fun but tempermental. I think you'll have a good time with it in 10mm.

I agree 100% that the market needs a quality 10mm carbine. My vote (though it will never happen) is the Beretta Storm. That gun is well designed and freakishly reliable. However, since they based it on their current pistol's magazines in 9mm, .40 and .45 its obviously not going to happen in 10mm.

A good AR-15 from a major name in 10mm would be nice too, with new production magazines instead of converted .45 ACP stick mags.

Which brings us to the HK MP5/10mm. Obviously we'd all love a semi-auto fully HK built version of that dream gun- preferably priced under $1000...but that is beyond rediculous dreaming!

One of my friend's brothers is an FBI agent and loves that gun. I'm always jealous hearing about it.

Maybe someday someone will get smart and build one.

10mm rifle or carbine

I agree with all you say. I had a MP5 and an American 180 when I was with the Sheriff's Dept and they were fun but by then I had qualified Master with the S&W Model 29 using my own loads. (I reduced the loads to 1150 fps).

I built two ARs in the early 90s and sold them as I don't like the 223 caliber.

I would like to see Ruger build a 10mm rifle in the MINI 30 style. HK, Colt, S&W and others would make us pay for the name. I believe $400 to $500 would be a fair price and they would sell many at that price, but I'm dreaming of course.

One day I hope the 10 comes back and I believe the public will buy everything they make if it's not overly expensive.

If Glock every gets around to making a carbine that uses their pistol magazines as Beretta has done with the Storm we might be in luck as well.
