Rock Island Armory 38super

Looking for feedback from owners of any RIA 1911's in 38super. Sold my Colt 38super awhile back and looking for an inexpensive replacement for shooting 38super. Currently considering either the Rock Island 1911 or EAA Witness. Like the hi-cap mags with the Witness, but a 1911 guy at heart. The feedback I've read on the 45acp Rock Island 1911s seems all positive.

Thanks

From a parts availability point of view, I'd go with the RIA for a low cost 38 Super.

I've got a blued RIA in 38 Super and it has been 100% reliable. I put a Yost-Bonitz rear sight and a Brown ramped front sight on it to improve the sight picture. I also fit a Brown barrel bushing. Using PMC 130 gr fmj's it will shoot a ragged hole. If they made a LW Commander I'd have one of those too.

Look at the Taurus, I saw their 1911's at the SHOT show and was impressed.

These are $600.00 pistols with all the bells and whistles, and they have a 38 Super. They come with about anything you would want and they were built tight. I would have no compunctions about buying one.

Taurus 38super

Buddy...looked over the Taurus website and didn't see any 38super's. Is that a "very new"product? All I found was blued and stainless 45acp models.

I saw it at the SHOT show in Feb. '06. I didn't know they made one (Super) before I saw that one. I knew that they had a 1911 in .45 acp, but the first one I saw was at the show, too.

These guns were really tight and well fitted. Had about everything you would want. I like adjustable sights and they had Hienie fixed night sights. I could live with that if I were shopping.

Anyway, you or your dealer could call a distributor and see if they have hit the stores yet.

Let me know if you buy one...I would like to see a report from an individual.

Thanks, Buddy
