Remington UMC has a reputation for dirty burning powder. Another option is Winchester USA white box 230 grain FMJ ammo. My local Walmart carries this at $19.99 for a box of 100. Otherwise you could look for CCI Blazer in the brass case or S&B (Sellier & Bellot), both in 230 grain FMJ.

I prefer teh 230 gr. Blazer with the brass case. I've put 1,000s of rounds down range with it and never had an ammo related problem. Jeffvn |

I recently took a two-day defensive handgun class and bought 1000 rounds of Speer Lawman 230gr .45 range ammo. All thousand rounds popped-off flawlessly.

If you are shooting indoors I would recomend a leadless round. I use Winclean with good results. It's flat nosed profile also gives it an edge over regular ball if you want to use it as a defensive round. Comes in 185 and 230 grain at about the same price as the regular white box.

I buy by the case from surplusammo.com, they also do the WAC shows in western WA, ask for James. I buy Armscor 230grain ball for $150 per thousand. Never any problems in either of my Kimbers. Also great brass if you wish to reload.

I've come to like Fiocci. I can get it at the same price as Whitebox without the accuracy issue and good brass for reloading. However it may be difficult to find. I've only found one place that can sell it for the same price as wally world whitebox, and it is a local store in eastern Wisconsin. But if you can find it, I highly recommend them.

The Remington stuff seems to act differantly in my guns. A part of that is that the case rim has a slight bevel to it. The Winchester and Federal stuff seem to give me the best groups.

I use Winclean 185gr. No lead exposure and your guns will clean easier when your done at the range
