The Glock mods that were done include: Heinie Straight Eight sights, an Alchemy "Power Lever" slide stop release (not sure I will leave this on) and the trigger was changed to a 3.5 lb connector and a NY 1 trigger spring. I like this trigger better than any other Glock combo I have tried. The G20 slide with the longer sight radius and extra mass works well for me. I bought a Ky-Tac Braveheart holster for it, and it conceals about as well as that big square slide will allow. I feel like I can conceal the
Talisman just about as well as the chunky Glock. The STI is so flat compared to the Glock, but then you do have to deal with having the bigger double stack butt to conceal. The grip reshape does makes a HUGE difference in feel, pointability and overall shootability. Dane suggested leaving the finger grooves on and I do like how it works out, in that it causes me to make sure I am indexing my hand correctly, i.e. not monkey gripping it.
The one thing still to be resolved, is the mag base pads for the 10mm mags vs. the .45 mags. The photo shows a G30 mag in the gun. To me, the G30 mag is just enough longer that it makes a big difference in ones ability to grasp it securely. With the 10 round G30 mags I can just get enough of my last finger on there to make it feel right. With the 10 round G29 mags, my pinky doesn't have a place to land. Dane cut the the backstrap to G30 length, as we can't add more backstrap, but we could cut it later. I still need to play with getting the right size mag base extender that doesn't alter the mags, in such a way, as to make them illegal (adding capicity) -- which is not exactly a good idea in a carry gun IMO. Unfortunately, the G29 and G30 base pads attach differently.
FWIW, Dane has expressed concerns that the 10mm breech face is not properly sized for the 9x23. I am told Caspian is planing a 9mm slide for the G20/21 frames. Dane's feedback (from users in the field) has been that the 10mm mags don't fuction 100% loaded with 9x23. Not that I doubt David's experience, but I will only carry 10mm rounds, when I have proven it to myself that the 9x23 works 100% in the Glock.
BTW, I previously posted a thread about the Glock
here. There was also a thread on the
Talisman here.
The Glock is nicer than I though a Glock could be. It was also a pretty cheap date compared to the
Talisman, but then there is NO QUESTION which I like better or would chose if I could only have one. The
Talisman is just plain sweet. Trust me eerw, you DO want one of these. All the controls are familiar to 1911 shooters and the extra capacity is reassuring. Though my single stacks feels like sports cars after piloting the fat bottomed double stack for a while. Still the carry double stack from BCP inspires true confidence. Damn fine piece!
