Hello. I fired the 124-gr. Guardian Gold JHP from two Hi Powers. Based on 10-shots, the average velocities are shown below:

Mk III #1: 1106 ft/sec
Extreme Spread: 69
Std. Deviation: 23

Mk III #2: 1096 ft/sec
Extreme Spread: 61
Std. Deviation: 19

Fired into super-saturated newsprint, the bullet expanded well. The ones I shot always shed their jackets.

When fired into plain water, the bullet almost always fragmented. Shards of the jacket with tiny bits of lead would be found.

The ammunition fed fine through both Hi Powers. There is quite a bit of variation in the way it responds to plain liquid vs. the soggy newsprint. I have heard no reports of how it performs against felons nor have I seen this ammunition used on animals.

Best.

Thanks, yet again, Steve!

I have not tried the 9mm but the .45 230 +P and the .38 125 +P look promising!

Onward,

Hello, Jim! You are most welcome. I've not tried it in anything but 9mm and .380. The latter did not expand at all for me. I'm not too trusting of the wild variations I'm seeing in it with 9mm. The variation in bullet performance in water vs. wetpack is pretty significant and greater than what I've seen with other JHP's.

Best.
