| Specialty & AP pistol ammo
I'm new to this forum, and I've recently joined a bunch of forums in my effort to reach out to anyone who is interested in what I am interested in: special-purpose gadgety pistol ammo. The weird stuff with odd tips; exploders, multiball, darts, cutters, slicer, dicers, expanders, plastics & teflon. I have an extensive history in collecting & researching and a large collection. I'm with the International Ammunition Association (IAA), and I have written a book on the topic of pistol-caliber armor piercing ammo which is my main point of collecting. Below are pics of the stuff I collect; a reference sheet I made for pistol-caliber AP ammo, a box of mixed caliber specialty ammo, and a box of 9mm specialty ammo. Please ask questions or let me know if you are interested in collecting this stuff as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() KTW Teflon, American Ballistics, National Cartridge, Alia armor piercing, Omnishock, Geco Metal piercing, Remingotn Hi-way master, Peters Highway patrol, SIB armor piercing, Arcane 9mm, VBR ammo, SCMITR, GEA Cyclone, 7.62x25 API, ALPHA 9mm, CBAP 9mm, ANSB, Libra Snail, M39/B, 6.5x25 CBJ, PPS MSC, 224 VOB, 223 timbs, Magsafe, Beehive, armscor strike 3, equalloy, hydrashok, village metalworks safe stop, multiball, kawser pingrabber, kawser pin grabber, velet exploder, velex exploder, FXlabs, D&D omega star, Thunderzap, BBM hardcap, cobra gun HSA, Hirtenberger EMB, DAG Action-3, simunition, Aguila IQ, Triton quick shok, Hi Vel Hypersonic, Mesko Hornet, Mesko Mosquito, Mesko Wasp, XM261, KTW 22 pokey, etc... |

Wow, what an interesting and unique collection. How long did it take you to amass that fine collection, and what piqued your interest in this stuff. I've been shootin' over 50 yrs, troll the local gunshows regularly, but I have NEVER seen anything like this collection of yours. Truly amazing.........

Catridgecollector you must be the person I am looking for. Do you know where I can find OC pepper rounds? These are revolver defense rounds that shoot a powder version of pepper spray. They are popular in Europe but no body has even heard of them in the U.S. (nice collection by the way!) Thanks, Mino |

That's too kewl. I have an older and a younger brother that are crazy about odd calibers and projectiles. Rifles mostly, but all these oddball, unique rounds. I really like that collection. Some of those wierd pointed ones pique my interest. I always dug the .224 BOZ too. I remember reading about it in Handgunner years ago. I think they had a 1911 from Smoking Hole/Aaron Harris and a Glock converted from 10 to .224. What a sick round. Pre 5.7 days, for sure. Last edited by Alabaster; 05-15-2011 at 09:17 AM. |

Possesion of AP handgun ammo in the US is illegal for normal civilians. Do you have some sort of permit that allows this? If not, I'd pull this post, if I were you.

Uh-uh. Urban legend alert. Not illegal to buy, sell, trade, or possess. Illegal to carry in a gun in some jurisdictions, maybe...but perfectly legal to have and to hold. Otherwise, it would be illegal to have .30-30 ammunition in your possession if you also owned a TC Contender chambered for it. |

AP ammo is for sale periodically from the big on-line suppliers, without any unusual restrictions--ie--permits etc......

Wild Bill, you ARE at the top of the list. I started the list with you--the MIDDLE name--and added 2 to the left of you, and 2 to the right of you. It's more a pyramid of normalcy, with YOU at the APEX..........

Rest assured, Wild Bill, that your outstanding character is recognized by all of your cronies on this Forum. This RARE opportunity to extoll your virtues presented itself, and I seized upon it......

| u can't read the law, go to prison
the old federal law about AP handgun ammo said the bullet could not be constructed of brass, bronze, steel, or iron. The Ktw is contructed of bronze, Ihad some, back in 1977, before the law passed. I have seen a new law about it in Westlaw's criminal code rules, and it said that if the bullet pierces threat level II body armor, from a handgun, it is illegal for civilians to possess. Howeve, it is possible that that was from the 1994 crime bill, and got repealed. Repeals or sunsettinng laws are so rare, that not all parts of such things are "caught' by the publishers of law books. the bronze bullet Ktw, tho, is DEFINITELY illegal, and so is the solid brass THV Arcane ammo. It won't be ME going to prison over it, so go ahead, be stupid about it. Don't say that I didn't warn you. In fact, I think I'll report this to ATF, just to show you morons who is right on this subject. :-)
