Hello. When shooting groups, I use tried and true handloads that group, ditto, for hunting. For "practical" drills, I'll either use handloads or cheap ball I've bought, primarily for the cases.

Best.

Reloads here too.

225 gr. LFP infront of 5.0 gr. Red-dot.
812 FPS = 183 PF.

Reloads. Nothing But. I couldn’t to even begin to afford to shoot as much as I do with factory ammo. Even with Uncle Sam giving me primers and bullets, I still spend a LOT on powder and brass.

Cheapest FMJ on the shelf at the time. Usually it's UMC or winchesters. Gonna have to start reloading again.

PMC or Magtec 230 ball, least expensive since I don't reload.

Fewer and fewer reloads [ 225 gr flat points/clays powder], and more and more S&B ball.

I would reload myself but my wife doesn`t like me to do it.She said it is too dangerous and messy.Don`t need to fight about ammo when she lets me buy guns.

Lately...200gr LSWC over 8.0gr of AA#5 and 9.0gr of the same. I still practice with some S&B 230 HB but now that I have a thousand cases it's mostly the above. I have been working up some XTP 185 and 200 JHPs with the same powder so I guess I'm "practicing" as I proof the loads. I also have some Blue Dot that I plan to get into with some heavier 230gr and I use it for my 44mag as well...I've some new 210gr JSWC for it that look like fun. Exposed lead and all... I still have a bit of 296 and some 110 to burn with the "big guy"...g

I 2nd David's recommendation for Lawman. Its 'supposed' to be ballistically identical to the Gold Dot, in the same bullet weight. Lame thing is, most local shops don't carry it, even in a big Metro area like Denver
