Help ID'ing a Hi-Power

Hello folks
I recently purchased a Hi Power and was having trouble identifing it from the serial number. Looked on the Browning Website, but mine did not seem to conform to the formats listed.
The Serial # is 70C28245.
Any help would be appreciated

Hello. It is probably a classic style Hi Power made in 1970. Mine is made in '71 and the serial number begins "71CXXXXX."

If it is, it has a spur hammer, forged frame, checkered walnut stocks, and the small single-side thumb safety. It has no internal firing pin safety and will have the "humped" feed ramp.

It can have either adjustable or fixed sights, the latter being more numerous.

Best.

Thank you for your help Stephen
I think you got it, except for the spur hammer, which was probably replaced somewhere along the line. Have only had it for a week or so, but definitely like the feel of it and how easy it is to shoot.
As I am new to these Hi-powers, is there anything special I should watch out for like certain springs or parts that should be replaced on a regular interval.

Thanks

Hello. If you plan to shoot standard pressure loads, I have found that the standard recoil spring (17-lb) and mainspring (32-lb) work fine. I personally use an 18.5-lb Wolff conventional recoil spring in my Hi Powers and they run fine for me with standard and +P. Some folks opt to reduce the mainspring for a bit lighter trigger pull but if you opt to do this, I would increase the recoil spring to 18.5-lbs as both slow down the slide's rearward velocity.
I do not think that the slightly stronger 18.5-lb recoil spring hurts the sear/hammer engagement as the recoil spring in the forty-caliber Hi Power is rated at 20-lbs.

Best.
