feg barrels

Hello:

There are FEG barrels at Numrich for less than $100. Which FN/Browning/FM models might they fit? This assumes that they have the FN type locking system and not the S&W type.

Has anyone fit one to a hi-power? Which models might it be fitted to?

Hello Ray,

I've never heard of anyone installing an FEG bbl in a Browning, or in an FM for that matter. However, if you haven't already measured them, you could measure all the exterior dimensions (w/Mics & Calipers) on one of your FEG bbls and compare it to an FN-Browning Barrel to get an idea how close they are, or aren't.

Since the FEG PJK-9HP is a un-licensed copy of The High Power, it'd be interesting to take a FEG and a FN-Browning into an Inspection Room that's equipped with high quality micrometers, calipers, pin gages, height gages, radius gages, hardness testers, surface gages and comparator machines and see just how close it is to a Browning. It also be interesting to run an older Argentine FM HP through the inspection room with them - as you know the FM would most likely be a lot closer to FN's specs since it was a Licensed Copy.

If you measure one and it's close enough to try - it'd still be a good idea to put some DYKEM (lay out dye) on it and a known good barrel then after some manual cycling of the slide/bbl combinations compare the wear marks on them (especially the lugs) and if their similar, then run a magazine through each and look at the wear areas again.
