I just got a hard chromed Belguim Belgium that has some bad sights on it. Now the question is can I put novaks on it and just have them cut the places they need to to put on the sights and not have the guns slide re hard chromed or will the hole slide need to be refinished and is there any way around having to get that done. If they do cut the places needed to put on the sights and I decide not to have it refinished will it look bad and rust under it or have any problems, and do you have any recomendations where to get it done in a timely matter. Thanks in advance |

Hello. The best solution is to have the whole slide refinished after the machining's done. Best. |

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN YOUR SEARCH. I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF HI-POWRS REFINISHED FOR ME ONE BY BOB COGAN AND THE OTHER BY CHECKMATE GUNS. BOTH OF THE GUYS ARE IN FLORIDA WHICH WAS CLOSE TO MY HOME. THE WORK ON BOTH GUNS WAS TERRIFIC. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE THE SIGHTS ON AFTER THE SLOTS HAVE BEEN CUT AND SLIDE REFINISHED FOR UNDER TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS NOT COUNTING THE COST OF THE SIGHTS THEMSELVES.

Dude. Turn the all-caps off. It is quite annoying.

Will it hurt the gun or look bad to put them on and not refinish under the sights. Im being lazy and trying to cut corners and trying to see if it is possable.

Up to you, but it will rust eventually where bare metal is exposed. you could get by for a while if money is tight, but I wouldn't wait forever to refinish it. Better to save up to do it all at once.

could you use cold blue under the sights, and would that stop the chance of rusting. I am tight with the cash right now I am trying to save what I can because im moving to NC. I hate living in CA, can you blame me.

Check out the Nowlin lowrider and/or Chip Mccormick rear sight they apear to be the same. I just ordered one from Mccormicks as they sell the rear only. I haven't received it yet so I'll repost when I get it. Supposedly it is a two peice sight the dovetail and the sight the dove tail peice is honed down until it fits the rear then the overpeice bolts on with setscrews somehow. You are suposed to get a Novak like sight without sending out for machining. Unless you have your heart set on Novaks there are many sights at Brownells you can install with a hammer hard nylon punch ,course whetstone and some locktight. Without modifiing your slide.
