| Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless
I was wondering of a Colt 1903 hammerless in .32 auto could be converted to .380 by just changing out the barrels and extractors. I was just kinda curious. TIA Joe |

Why oh why would you want to do that to a nice antique pistol? Both .380 and .32 being impotent(but deadly) calibers why not shoot the more fun and cheaper .32? A magazine change, barrell, recoil spring and extractor probably could be FITTED that would work with some filing to make it feed. UGH!

NO. I believe you can go the other way, i.e. change a .380 to a .32

So I guess you would really frown on reblueing the pistola? I went in and bought the little thing this morning, and after a very rushed cleaning job, the slide actually moves like a slide should. Previously it acted like someone was hitting the brakes in one or two places. A little degreaser, and a touch of oil and it seems to work great. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but that will happen ASAP. A friend of mine also has a 1903 .32 and was really wanting to convert to .380. I just wanna shoot the thing. If I decide to rebarrel, it will be with another .32 barrel. The finish is pretty much gone on mine and I'm debating about stripping it completely and reblueing it the next time the guys at work heat up the bluing tanks. Anyway, thanks guys, good luck and good shootin'. Joe |

I have examples in both .32 and .380, and the .380 mag will not fit in the .32 frame.

I have a 1903 Pocket Hammer in .38 ACP virtually NIB for collection and one that I enjoy shooting which is about 90% but has some pitting in the barrel. If I ever decide to replace the barrel on my shooter, does anyone know who would make a new barrel of this configuration? Thanks, Ray |

You might have better luck getting your original barrel sleeved. It would probably cheaper, safer and more accurate than a 100yo original.

Numr gun parts sells barrels to fit the 1903 pistols, in both .380 and .32. They go for about $86.00 each plus the shipping. Joe |

I meant Numrich gun parts, sorry but I'm trying to work on a research paper and do this at the same time. Joe |

Ray is looking for a .38ACP barrel for a pocket hammer model; I'm not aware of any modern repros.
