What are you looking to do to the Commander? I was looking into a custom Commander, but was weighing the 1991 vs XSE.

XSE Commander Here
I was also looking for a 1991 Commander when I stumbled onto an XSE on Gun Broker. Needless to say, I have a nice new XSE SS Commander. The pistol is very tight and everything indicates a top quality manufacturing job by Colt. At the range, I was impressed! I expected a slight decrease in accuracy from the shorter sight plane, but that was not the case. The pistol is very accurate and has a balanced pointability like point your finger (I find myself subconsciously flexing my wrist slightly with a Government model to get the front sight up).
To answer your orginal question.......definitely yes to the 1991 commander. The 1991's I've handled, both Commander and Government, have been a little looser than my XSE, but not such that they should suffer any lose in accuracy. I'm now contemplating a 1991 or XSE Government model for a USPSA/IPSC Lmited 10 gun.
