| Older Dan Wesson .44mag ?
I can get a nice "Monson" Dan Wesson .44 for $300. It has a good action everything looks good BUT: the cylinder will rotate backward if the action is not cocked. That is the bolt lifts and rides up the ramp whenyou apply twisting pressure(rotate cylinder) . Is this a problem(chronic?) and what is the fix? Are these guns any good?

It indicates that there is a problem! $300 for a Dan Wesson 44 is a good price and Dan Wesson will service older products. Most likely, the locking bolt is not engaging the locking notch properly or the locking bolt cuts in the cylinder are mis-machined or severly rounded. Dan Wesson revolvers are usually excellent guns, very well built and very accurate.
