How to Get Black Oxide Finish?
I'm relatively new at gun finishing, and would like to restore a poor original finish on my recently acquired WW2 Lee-Enfield No4Mk1. I was told the original finish was black oxide. Is this the same as dark parkerizing, or closer to some type of bluing? Where can I get the proper finish materials? Also, lots of these rifles have black painted parts. Would those have been reworked, or originally painted black? I'm used to WW2 US Arms finishes, typically parkerized or dulite blued, but don't know much about the British ones yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
