Regardless of the ads, Glock handguns can and will rust. Mine shows rust on the front frame rails and slide channel after a day of carry, from sweating while working in the hot sun. The slide lock spring also rusts easily. The other springs, sights and inside the mags will also rust. The surface rust doesn't do any damage that I can tell, but it is there.

Howdy. Yep Glocks do have parts that rust. Usally anything but slide. bbl, sights, and frame.

That said I do find it hard to believe a Glock rusted in one day. Of course it depends on the enviroment and how well the Glock had been cared for.

A good friend of mine hates that I don't clean my Glocks each time I fire them. After a min of 3-4 sessions I will clean them. Why because I can get away with it with a Glock.

Depending on my schedule that might be 3-4 days or 3-4 months and not a speck of rust.

I don't win matches that I shoot in, but I dearly love talking crap about a dirty, nasty gun going bang everytime I pull the trigger. Now don't get me wrong my Glocks have jammed from a bad mag spring and once from the shooter not paying attention to what he(me) was doing.

Sure enough, after a day of work in 100 degree heat, you and everything on you is covered in sweat. I have to perform maintenance on my carry gun daily, due to this and the amount of debris collected in the barrel and all the nooks and crannies, and this is with an IWB holster. I've been testing Militec-1 and Ultima Lube, which is what has been used when I've noticed the surface rust on my Glock 23. Like I say, it wipes right off, but it would probably cause some problems without regular maintenance.
Also, a friend of mine tried to clean his Glock 17 in the dishwasher. I didn't think he was ever gonna get all the surface rust off that thing  .

As far as rusting goes, there are several factors that have to do with it. I have a friend whose body salts are so acidic he can make a gun rust just by touching it and not wiping it off.

Environment also plays a big role. Carrying in Florida is worse than in New Mexico, for instance.

The best rust preventatives I have used thusfar on my guns and knives are the products from Sentry Solutions. Their Marine Tuf-Cloth is the best treatment this side of getting a new finish put on the gun.

When I worked in the Caribbean, the rust was rampant. The Tuf-Cloth keeps it in abeyance for up to 2 weeks at a time on my guns, depending on how much I sweat on them.

Just food for thought.

Right on Chris  . It's pretty hot and humid here. Another outstanding product to try: http://www.corrosionx.com

I also noticed the mag release spring rusts very easily as well. After hard use, you might want to take a flashlight and look up the mag well on your Glock, you may be surprised. I went back to good 'ole Break Free CLP for a few days--no rust when a thin coat of CLP was left on all metal surfaces.
Corrosion is of far more concern than wear. You will face rust, but you'll probaby never wear out a gun.
