Has anyone tried this? Converting a 9mm Glock to 38 Super Plus P., or 9x23. Later,

Can't convert the 9mm, .40S&W, .357 SIG's of any variant to .30 super due to magazine depth restrictions. The .38 super is the same o.a.l. as the .45 ACP or 10mm, so if you wanted to try a conversion it would have to be on teh 20 or 21 frame, or one of the compacts chambered in those calibers. Then you'd have to tackle the problem of designing a mag that would feed that sized cartridge, namely feed lip dimensions. For that, I'd try the 10mm mags as it wouold involve less manipulation. Folowers might work... maybe.

It's an interesting concept, and one that I've given a bit of thought to. Personally I'd like to see a gunsmith outfit like S&J do a conversion to make the Glock competative in USPSA open division in something other than 9mm where it's kinda tricky to make major with 9mm, again due to mag depth issues.

Of course once someone actually did a .38 super conversion, that would theoretically open the door for another in 9x23 Win. Hint-hint!! Wild Bill, any takers? You could probably get Tommy to go for this...

Hi.
9x23 Glock can be done. I have a 20 and 29 in 9x23 . All you need is a BAR-STO barrel . Some 10mm mags ( Glock 20 ) need ajustment .I haven't tryed 38 super in them yet .

It's a piece of cake to convert a 9mm to a .356 TSW though.

Before S&J started building their "9mm Major" Raceguns, there WERE a few people running 9x21 at "Major" Power Factor out of the GLOCK...including at least one pretty young LADY who used to work for GLOCK in Smyrna, but now works in Springfield, MA...FWIW....mikey357

True. But, if I read between the lines of what the original poster was meaning, it's my guess to have a conversion that shoots ammo that is somewhat readily available. Your area may be different than mine, but at the shop that I part-time at there is but one 50rd box of 9x21, and it ain't cheap, where-as we've got several cases of .38 super and one case of 9x23, plus some Win silvertips.

That's just my take on it, but still you are correct in your statement. In fact, there are still some hard core reloaders in USPSA that hang on to the 9x21 cartridge as they've been shooting it for a long time with good results.

I'm going to ask a silly question, so here goes,...what's so hard about making 9MM Major? I used to shoot a 9x21 in Major,....and after that I shot some REALLY HOT 9MM through it also,.....other than "primer flattening" I had no other ill effects out of it....
What needs to be done to shoot 9MM Major?
