Where to get "Mexican silver" 1911 grips????

I know that I am going to be repaid for all the "smart-a$$" answers and comments with which I come up on this question (and I know I deserve it!), but here goes.
I have an old Commander in .38 Super that I have always thought of (for some unknown reason) as kind of a "Border gun" (as between Texas and Mexico), even though I am in Missouri! To this end, I have looked off and on for a set of silver grips for it, you know the kind.......... the gaudy "Mexican silver" jobs with the "engraving" ranging from somewhat gaudy to ugly gaudy 8) . I don't want to spend a fortune for them, and if they are PLAIN nickel silver or Mexican silver, that is O.K. also, as I have a good friend who is an excellent engraver. I really NEED theese (sort of like one NEEDS a papercut or hemmoroids) , but it is one of those "always wanted........" deals for a knock-around gun.
Anyone out there that can give me any leads? Thank you in advance for any information.

You are still searching for those elusive pimp grips, I see. Well, I think I have found you a place to get some made. It isn't cheap, nothing there is cheap, but they will be "beautiful" and are exactly what you are looking for.

call Nelson Silvia Co. Houston, Tx, 713, 521 1060 and speak to Rick Silvia the original owner's son, who now runs the shop. Tell him what you want and he can quote you a price.

If it works out for you, all I ask in return is for you to post a picture of them on your pistol on both this forum and Brian's.

Hope it works out

Silver grips

I have a pair of ornate silver and grips that were made in the 60's. they are sterling silver with gold or brass trim. They weigh a little over three aviordupior (sp) ounces. If you are interested, contact me and I will get a digital photo

Sorry, but if you put those grips on your gun, you'll have to change your forum handle to Huggy Bear.

Silver grips

When I bought the .45, I wouldn't leave the store until it had a new pair of the then brand new pachmyer rubber grips.

Jimc93,
Please email me a photo of them and let me know what you want for them. Anxiously await your response. my email address is: Jeffro135@aol.com
Thanks for the response. The sooner I hear back from you, possibly the sooner I can put them on my Commander, get a digital photo of them to post here, and fasten my seat belt for the responses I am sure to illicit from all my compatriots!!!!!!! You gotta be tough to hang in with unpopular ideas, but I can handle it!!!! :P

In México

You can buy it in México.

A lot of those Stocks aren´t silver. They are made of Alpaca.

In México, those kind of grips are mainly searched for ignorant people. (I will prefer cocobolo). Pero como una curiosidad esta bien lo que quieres hacer.

In the "ferias" the artesans sells tis kind of stocks. In about two or tree months we are going to have a "feria", if you want I look for a pair, I think they are cheap, like all the silver here.

By the way, who sell Unique pistols in E.U.

IROD,
ABSOLUTELY NO OFFENSE TAKEN. No need to apologize, although I do appreciate you doing so. You are obviously a gentleman, and that shows. Thank you for your offer, I do appreciate it, and might take you up on it.
You DID NOT OFFEND ME. I admire anyone who can learn a second language to any degree. I have spoken English all my life and still do not have it down perfectly.
Thank you again for your courtesy..... it is the mark of a gentleman.

I have procured a set. They are having a little work done on them, but I will get someone to post a picture of them on my Commander as soon as they return to their "new home".
Thank you,

Your SiGness,
That someone who takes the photos will (in all probability) be my nephew (remember ReverendAlfie?). He is the "techie" in the family. He will then forward the photograph(s) to a (SiG) Lady I know who might be kind enough to get them onto the site if I ask her real nice like!!!!!!!!!
