Hogue Avenger???

Anyone know anything about this? Says it is a fixed barrel upper for a 1911.

Would appreciate a report, ern. Or a series of posts in a new thread letting us know your experiences with your H-A .45ACP.

Don't get me wrong, but it looks as bulky as a HiPoint.

I'm not saying that is bad, just not for me.

Hogue Avenger-45 ACP Review

Installed H-A 3/4 days ago.Feels/balance like a 1911 with rib.It is a lever delayed blow back conversion unit.Easy to install with supplied shims and some minor hand fitting. Results solid mounting of barrel-to frame fit with no V or H play.So far is seems inherently accurate. Barrel is a bull match bbl made by BarSto,free floating and actually has an axis slightly lower than a 1911 bbl.Fit,finish, quality, design concept and functioning-superb.Since there are no gas ports to clog-can be used with LSWC bullets-which is what I use.It has a right side ejection port and due to less moving mass-a very fast cyclical action. This results in what seems to be less apparent recoil, muzzle rise, little or no rotational torque and fast second shot recovery.Rear sight-adjustable.Front sight not appropriate for BE competitive shooting-Hogue will send/exchange for a regular front sight blade-I hope.Over all I am quite happy with this unit.Comes with a picatinny rail which I will eventually remove as I would rather open sights.Am presently testing with a 6X scope at 50 yards/200 gr LSWC and am using Federal Premium Gold Medal 185gr FMJ SWC as a reference. For versatility-I think possibly this unit can be used with any 1911 frame/caliber-although I am not sure.Hope this helps.Cheers

How much did it increase the weight of the gun?

How accurate?

Hogue Avenger Accuracy Test-Preliminary

Using scope at 25 yards-200gr/SWC FB/randomly picked-best results were from 6 cavity Mihec and 3 cavity Accurate Company Brass mold. These are H&G #68 SWC FB shaped bullets.Powder 4.1/BE and 3.85/N310. Average 2-5 shot groups each were about .9" to 1" c-c. I feel that a normal load development proceedure (visual check, weighing bullets and varying powder weights) will produce "X" accuracy at 50 yards(using scope/RR) Sent dust cover to Hogue Machine Company to change front sight to HB blade type-N.C. To me-pistol feels like a 1911 with a rib. When finished with testing-will remove Picatinny rail(I like open sights) and I will weigh complete unit.Cheers http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/...erod1/H-A3.jpg

I'm dying to build one of these. I dunno if it's an answer to a problem that doesn't exist, or a genuinely good idea. I'd like to find out though. Fixed barrel and minimal reciprocating mass seems like a sweet proposition to me.
