How do you field strip a Beretta 948 model.
Hey guys just stumbled apon this forum and seems like there are many educated enthusiests here. I manage a pawnshop in maryland and carry a springfield XD 40 that i can service for cleaning etc as well as all my backup guns and staffs guns. I recently had an employee who brought me a Beretta 948 model that he wishes to carry of his own. The gun is a 1956 22cal. And for some reason i can not find out how ot field strip it. I've tried pulling the saftey pin out as you would a taurus millenium... I've tried well lets put it this way I've fiddled with it for 2 days and still have no idea. If anyone knows or has a guess even of how I would greatly appriciate the advice. I've be to my 4 largest local gun shops / smiths and no one has an idea. As well two beretta auth dealers. The gun hesaid was his grand fathers and as far as he knows it hasn't been cleaned since his dad recieved it or since he trasnferred it into his name. Unfortunalty the grandfather has past and everyone else seems to be clueless.

Just stumbled across this post looking for a part for my 948 but here is how you field strip it..
- Remove the mag and insure that the pistol is not loaded.
- Pull the slide to the rear and lock it in the rear position with the safety
- Slide the barrel to the rear and then lift the rear of the barrel. You should
then be able to slide the barrel further to the rear and back over the rear
of the slide.
- Once the barrel is removed, the slide will now slide forward and off the
Anyone happen to have a spare safety catch for a 948 they don't need???
