I really love my SiG 230. It shoots 380 and I usually use the hot loads from CorBon, Triton or the Gold Dots. It usually rides in a HNH Mr. Softy for IWB and a Mikes Sidekick if on my belt.

The reason that I like it so much is its pointability. This is the most intuitive pistol I've ever shot. If you can point your finger at something, you'll hit it. A lot of the accuracy comes from the fixed barrel, blowback cycled design.

Takedown is simple. Lower the takedown lever, lock the slide back, then lift the rear of the slide and ease it off.

Reassembly is just about as easy EXCEPT you need to make sure that the lockback arm on the left side is in place before you pull the slide over it. The lockback arm is only held in place by the slide and is spring loaded. You don't want to lose or break it.

There are three unusual features. The first is that it doesn't have an external slide release. When the slide locks back you either drop in a loaded mag or remove the mag completely. With a loaded mag or no mag at all, you just pull and release the slide for it to return to battery.

The second unusual feature is that the hammer drop brings the pistol to half cocked status. There is no way to lower the hammer fully.

The third thing to get used to is the mag release. In typical European fashion it is located on the heel. But with just a little practice changing mags is as fast as with the US style button release. The advantage is that it is fully exposed and should something go wrong at least it's where you can get to it.
