| Seattle-area gunsmith for custom project?
Hi, Folks, I've only posted on this board once or twice, but lurk here when I can. Anyway, I have a ratty old Brazilian export S&W 1917 (or 1937, I guess to be more accurate?) with missing grips and non-matching serial numbers (frame and cylinder don't match) in .45acp that I'd like some custom work done on, and wondered if any of you can recommend someone in the Seattle area. If not, I'll consider shipping it off outside the area, but I'd prefer to keep it local. I want it done up like the old Colt 'Fitz Specials' except without the front of the trigger guard cut out. So, mostly just a barrel cut-down to about 3.5", refinishing, and action and trigger work, and possibly rounding the gripframe for more grip choices (or cutting it down to K/L-frame size?). Any recommendations? Also, please know that I would *never* do this to a nice original old Smith!! This one is far from a pristine model, and as I said, has non-matching numbers ...
