Has anyone converted a 40 to a .357 SIG by simply dropping in a barrel? Just curious if there were any problems and if I could no the same before I plop down money on a .357 barrel.

I don't know about the conversion of the compact, but there are possible problems when doing it in the full-size. One poster, speaking of the Compact, in the middle thread below states:
"...when I talked to some people at Bar-Sto and Jarvis about the conversion. This applies to both full size and compact USPs.
First they asked if it was going to be for defense as they strongly urged against it. The reason being that you don't get 100% reliable feeding."

Because HK offered (past tense?) the Compact in 357SIG, I suspect that there's less information on the Compact conversion.

Yes, I've got a USP Compact .357 that I also have the factory .40 S&W barrel for. Works great. Compact mags are interchangeable too.

MP-5, Yes, a .357 Sig caliber barrel will work just fine in your USP40c.(Compact). HK said it was OK. As always, "your milage may vary" Be safe

I put a Bar-Sto extended .357 sig barrel in my USPc .40. It works great, fits better than the factory barrel even. I havent fired the .40 in quite a while, it seems kind of wimpy.
