Ernie Hill Speed Leather Holster
I recently acquired a Ernie Hill Speed Leather holster (model number 6) at a gun show in Minneapolis. The seller said it fit a 1911 type pistol. I can't fit my 1911 in the holster, nor can anyone else figure it out. Can someone tell me if this holster is for a 1911, if not then what pistol does it fit? There is a plastic covered screw just inside the opening of the holster that interferes with the trigger guard and prevents the pistol from fitting into the holster. Any advice/info on this would be appreciated.

The holster you mentioned, a number "6", was an earlier holster than the one I have. I have a number "7" also marked "Leatham" on the belt loop. I believe yours is like mine and has a fixed angle, where the newer ones he made had adjustable angles. Mine is prior to 1988, and I'm guessing probably more like 1985.
The plastic covered screw you mentioned (and there may be one at the muzzle end too) were tension screws you could adjust to "pinch" the gun for the older IPSC matches where you had to jump in the air and the gun had to remain in the holster.
Another thing comes to mind...my "7" was because I had a compensator fitted and the slide was longer than standard. Yours may be similar, and a standard length gun is loose in it...
If I remember correctly, Ernie Hill Speed Leather sold out or was purchased by Safariland a long time ago, but my memory is about as long as my....
You might try contacting Wilson Combat. I talked to Bill Wilson back in the early 80's, when I first got into IPSC shooting and he was one of the nicest people you could talk to. They sold Hill leather for a while I think, but Bill could probably tell you about your holster or where you could find out.
Sorry, I know this isn't much, but it's been a long time. Let me know if this is a dead end and I'll see if I can dig up any info from then. I saved about everything, but got a divorce and lost most of it... GOOD LUCK!
