| edc knife poll and recommendations
Anyone care to share his/her preference in an every-day carry knife? I'm not talking about your pet Ka-Bar or other "anti-social" edged weapons. I mean that one well-worn, tusted friend of a pocket knife without which you never leave home. JSYK: I'm considering buying an Emerson Mini-CQC-7A. Anyone own or use one? If so, feel free to talk me out of doing so or urge me on--as the case may be. Thanks, T |

A friend of mine got me started on the Emerson line of knives with the "wave" feature. I have a full size Commander and the Mini-Commander and carry one of the two daily. Microtech makes maybe a little different style knife and is absolute quality IMO. The Microtech Lightfoot with carbon fiber is another favorite.

I carry a Socoom by MicroTech. Fine performer and keeps an edge. My only other carry knife is a Spyderco Police. The rest of my knives are to big, to small, or just not reasonable to carry. BTW this is my first post. Looks like a real nice forum. |

I carry an Emerson CQC7 with the wave, it's with me on my daily duties as a Firefighter/EMT, excellent knife IMO! The wave feature makes it super fast to open, and it's pretty discreet with the black clip. You really can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned knives! Rob |

I've owned several of the Emerson production knives and they simply never did anything for me. They were okay but just that, okay knives. When I had a chance to trade them for one of Peter Marker's Maxis, off they went. But my EDC for many years is a Don Greenaway folder. It's worn and ugly but still does all I could ask of it. |

I would recommend the Emerson Mini-CQC-7. I have both the spear point 7a, and Tanto 7b, they're great knives. I find myself carrying a Benchmade mini-Griptilian most days, a really neat knife. Regards, |

I'm supprised no one mentioned Cold Steel! I own 3 different types & love them all my carry is a 4" model Recon 1 clip point & that baby sharpens nice & keeps a dam good edge, and as a one armed person I hold the lock button back & flip the blade out real easy. Im sold on Cold Steel knives, call them & get a free DVD 805-658-0180 I have NEVER seen any one torture there knives like C.S. |
