What knives do you carry every day for defensive purposes?

I just want to see what all you guys carry for knives.I carry a folder in my left rear pocket and a fixed blade at 2:00 on my belt.

I carry a Browning folding knife on my belt. I think it is really neat how they lasered the deer head through the blade. I find I use it a lot for utility work. The one handed opening is real handy and it licks solid.

However, I keep a PT911 in a Pager Pal for serious problems.

I keep a Spyderco Delica in my front right (stronghand) pocket for gerneral and defensive purposes. An Emerson Karambit rides in my left pocket purely for defensive duty.

For serious defense I think you need to simply forget folders. Get a fixed blade, preferably a nice Bowie. Here is a picture of my personal EDC Bowie.

Lone Wolf - Harsey folder

I carry a Lone Wolf Harsey tactical folder. It has a 4 1/2" blade and green canvas micarta grip panels. It's a bit bulky, so I carry it in my coat pocket.

Why do I carry this knife? Because it is razor sharp and cockstrong!! It has a... "presence" about it when deployed.

Elishewitz Shadow. However, I'm thinking about buying a Benchmade 630 for my everyday knife, until I can get a real Blackwood Skirmish.

Unless you have stress tested the liner lock I agree with Jim. I have been carrying an R.J. Martin Kozuka(fixed tanto) for a while now after a well known makers "tactical folder" collapsed on me and that ain't good in a fight. Almost lost one finger because of it and part of another. The particulars of the situation are private but I'm still here. As Jim said, fixed is best way to go in my book.

Love the old EK knives. They were certainly function over form.

If you are serious about a SD knife you need to seriously consider the knives from Terry Primos. He makes a line of small defensive knives that can be easily concealed, have all the features you would want and are beautiful. In addition they sell for about the same amount as a top of the line folder.

Fine looking Primo. I like the bump on the tail end. How can I upload a pic? I would take one of the EKs for you.

Pictures need to be hosted somewhere and linked into a post. If you don't have a place to host pics I'd be glad to help you. Drop me an email if you need help.

I've got the same Ek, Jim. I don't carry it much at all, though. If it were ever time to "hoist the black flag and start slitting throats" though, I'd probably have it with me.

Only three EKs I have, but sure love 'em! My son is 29, and just finished up 8 years in the Army. They will be his one day, however I want to enjoy them a bunch more years before passing them on.

Ditto! One of the best vaues in a folder today! Did you have the original style that has the safety lock which blocks the liner from releaseing the blade?

I also carry a Strider SNG.

I carry a Buch Ruch or a Kershaw leak for everyday working knife the cool assited opening features keep from from screwing around with the defense knives when idle.

I currently carry three knives:

MOD CQD Mark 1 Auto serrated

Camillus Cuda EDC fixed knife

Leatherman Kick (technically, not a knife but it does have a very useful utility blade).

I'll probably get more if the budget permits

Another SOG Flash II assisted opener. Very light, very fast, very sharp. I like the movable clip for weak-side cary. I also over-rode the safety with a piece of rubber. I liked it so much I got a Trident tigerstripe and SOG Pentagon Elite II, 5" Blade. That baby feels like pure power when it snaps open.

I carry a Gerber Mini Covert Fast Linerlock. I like the knife, but I'd like it better if it didn't have the serrated edge. I'm not a big fan of serrated edges. I also carry a Buck Mayo when I'm cleaned up.

I used to carry a William Henry folder but the day I snapped the tip off (very tiny piece, but still) I gave up carrying it.

I carry an Elmer Keith/Gil Hibben Knife. A lot of knife in a reasonably small package. It ALWAYS GETS ANY JOB DONE. ALWAYS.
Tantos, ect are eye candy for people to buy. The Keith knife is for people that use a knife for social and recreational purposes. ALways Sharp, Always ready, Always there.
