BRANDS

For a daily carrier.
Reccommend brands. models are a option I will investigate
I have been looking to find a easy one hand opener with a good, durable blade that will hold an edge in daily use.
I have looked at Gerber but I do not see you folks finding much to say about them.
Blessings

Never the cheapest but I still like A.G. Russell

Never the cheapest but I still like A.G. Russell. Mr. Russell deserves far more credit than he usually gets for the high end knife market as it has evolved in the past 30 years.

My daily carry - not a tactical - is Russell's One hand Knife - NOT an original design from Russell but an easy one hand to open AND one hand to close. The knife is nicely contoured for pocket carry without too much wear and big enough for all practical purposes.

I have a Benchmade 720 that I carry every day. It's an easy open, easy close, very smooth operation. It's a good knife to practice your thumb flick opening on due to the axis lock. I also have 2 Striders, a Microtech and a SWAT Balisong that I like to practice with, but the BM only cost $55 used so that's what I carry. I know I'm cheap...

I personally like Spydercos. They are nice and sharp and I don't cry if I have to lose it. Spyderco also has a class you can take in order to get the most out of your knife and is worth the money.

Now, a Chris Reeve, Sebenza is the knife to carry for dooms day.

I have happily used Benchmades and Spydercos in the role you describe.

Bill, I carry a Bench Made folder in my pocked everywhere I go. It has a plastic handle, which makes it light, and a hole (in the blade) that makes it fairly easy to open with one hand. It holds an edge pretty good, too.

I have a Gerber that is somewhat like the Bench Made that I carried before I was given the Bench Made. It is a good knife, too.

My favorite is an Chicago Cutlery brand pocket knife. They stopped making them about fifteen years ago. I have the small model and a friend has the larger one. Those knives have the best steel I have ever seen. Sharpen it and cut what you want...it's still sharp. If you find one, grab it.

Check your e-mail for pictures.

Bill, look at the Cold Steel. A vendor had them at a match today and they have some real nice models for about $60.00 to $80.00.

Re: BRANDS

William Henry! They're rather pricey but that Damascus Steel blade is hella sharp and will carve up stainless steel...

I got one from my parents a few Christmases ago and it's still sharp enough to shave with.

The model I have was a limited run of 1500 but isn't showing on the site (dang) But they're excellent knives!

Re: BRANDS

Kershaw - Ken Onion - mighty fast and convenient - don't hold an edge worth spit, but I like 'em.
