Departments in Southern California

I am currently about to start attending a extended academy at fullerton Community College where I am self sponcering myself. I have not yet found a department to apply at and with all the budget cuts that I have heard about I wonder if any of you know of any departments that are hiring. So far the departments that I have looked at I was told that they are only looking for laterals. I have done everything on my own so far as for obtaining all my detailed info for my background packet, purchasing all my primary and backup duty gear and established a set schedule to be ready for whatever I need to do while I am attending this academy. Now I have been hearing how some departments may just convert over and just contract out to the local county sheriff so I am just wondering who will hire a self sponcered cadet. Any help would be greatfull. thanks

Go to the academy completely focused on what they are teaching. No internet chat or babbly with friends, Focus like your future depends on it. Share nor offer any opinions on ANYTHING. Become the top cadet and you will graduate with a hiring offer prior to graduation.
I have seen this work many times very well.

The LAPD and Glendale PD are hiring right now.

It will take 9 -12 months to get hired by LA if you pass everything. You will have to go through LA's Academy unless you've got a basic post certificate.

Go for it. There are many fine Departments in Southern California. Contact me before you go for an interview. There are traps to avoid. I hope you are in good physical shape and do not have bad debts or a history of any drug arrests.
