I agree the S.A. 1911 Loaded Stainless does not look the best, I almost bought a Kimber Stainless because it looked better, but once I set my eyes and held this one I was sold..

The Parkerized looks way better by far, and even better when holding it. It grew on me fast.

stainless or blued

Stainless or blued, I'm hooked on 1911's period! Inside every so called ugly 1911 is a work of art waiting to come out. The most magnificent sculptures ever chiseled started as a solid rock.

stainless 1911s are ugly

Yes they are, and so are the front serrations, in my opinion.
The only thing uglier than a SS 1911, is a SS 1911 with ivory grips on it.
Front serrations, no matter what purpose they serve, are the one and only thing that I dislike about my Wilson CQB. I try to ignore them when I can.

Blue, not SS and real ivories.

Sometimes confused with stainless, but actually matte hardchrome. I can't make up my mind which I like better, blued or stainless/chromed.

Dane, as always, I love the look of your customs. I'm not quite sure what it is that sets them apart from others visually, but they usually do have some quality that makes them different from even ones that have the same makeup (sights/beavertail/etc).

Posting photos

Guys - your photos are great but you've got to either crop or reduce them down to 640 x 480 pixels before posting. If they are taller, at least reduce the width to 640 pixels. You're welcome to reduce your photos in size, go back and repost them. You should be able to go to your original post and click on the "edit" button in the upper right corner, then insert the link to your new photos.

We really do enjoy good photos of firearms but please make your photos smaller. Just about any photo editing software will be able to crop or reduce the size.

Thanks for your cooperation. Here's a link to the Pistolsmith.com's photo policy: http://www.pistolsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=11979

What are y'all's opinions on Robar's NP3 finish? My carry piece has a two tone NP3/Roguard finish and I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I had the frame refinished in NP3 and the slide in Roguard.

I'm a die-hard blued gun fan, but Dane's stuff makes me kinda like the idea
of stainless....I guess it's the blasting/polishing/matting combo as well as the
'tighter-grained' stainless that Colt uses. Not to mention I'm a Colt snob, I
guess..... 8)

If'n we had all fell in love with tha same woman it woulda been a heck of a fistfight.
I like stainless, but I am not into finishes, except for durability and function.

My recommendation for changing the look of your stainless Springfield is to send it to Tripp Research. $175 gets the entire thing refinished in satin black teflon, a.k.a. Cobra Coat. I just sent two 1911s to them on Friday for gunsmithing and refinishing. One will be black Cobra Coated, the other hard chromed, a.k.a. Cobra Chrome.

I like parkerized. Easiest to maintain and refinish if ever needed.
