Would like to get some opinions on what members believe to be (on the average) the most accurate 1911 out of the box? Anyone have experience with the Remington 1911 R1 ? I like the idea it is made in America.

On the accuracy issue:
Any "run of the mill" 1911 that can keep 5 shots under 4" at 25 yards is acceptable. And most will do that.
Some can be more accurate is you pony up more bucks (i.e. Les Baer).
Earlier Dan Wessons had a reputation of being fairly accurate out of the box (I don't know too much about the new CZ-USA DWs though).
My Ed Brown is accurate enough for me.

This accuracy thing is way overblown. Five shots in 4" at 25 yards is more than acceptable unless you are in a match shoot.
I have never seen a 1911 pistol, including the Chinese, Phillipine, Turkey, and Brazil made pistols that would not shoot 4" at 25 yards. Reliablility is something else. If your pistol is not relaible, it is worse than useless.
