I see. I misread the part about ejecting brass at the beginning. I was thinking if it's reliable, then what's the idea in "Fixing" it. Now I see it was ejecting brass which I'm now assuming(Uh oh!) means it may not eject actual loaded rounds, I see making it right for the sake of making it right, but if it's working now, what are you really fixing other than making measurements even up with drawings?

Any time that you mix shortened slide travel with an extended ejector you run into live-round ejection issues. It's especially prone to happen with hardball because of its overall length. The usual cure is to grind a relief into the bottom of the port on the right side.

With the old Commanders, I learned to use the overhand method for cycling the slide to pull the round from the chamber, and push it free from the extractor with my left index finger to send it down the magazine well.

that looks to me like you have the slide for a sig 1911 "carry" model. it was an intermediate length slide on a nearly (1/4") shorter frame, designed for quicker holster-clearing and concealability, with full-size ergonomics at the handling end and capacity.
guess where i used to work...

I have two of these. They are in fact commander length slides for a full size frame. I think Brownells sold them. I can switch from a 5" target slide to a 4 1/2 slide for carry.

Unfortunately this seems to have some major blems that I cant correct (under cuts) so I won't be barreliing it and using it. I may use it to practice cutting dovetails and serrations

At least that means there's a reason for it that makes sense, even if it does require a non-standard spring.

Define "undercuts" please.

There is one "slip in a rail but its not bad, what bugs me the most is the recoil plug tunnel is off center and out of round. That would show when assembled
