Grip Safety Issues

I am an armorer for a Sheriffs Dept. in Florida. I work on several types of guns but my true love are 1911s. I own several of them and am now in the process of building one. I have a Foster high cap 9mm frame. When I have everything together and the hammer down the grip safety sticks, like it is rubbing on something and is hard to move. When the hammer is cocked the grip safety moves freely and operates like it is suppose to. I have never seen this problem, on my other 1911s the grip safety moves freely all the time. Any suggestions? Also, I have checked all the clearances and fit of all the parts separately and together they all mesh like they are suppose to. The only problem I can see is the hammer strut sits close to the grip safety with the hammer down and moves away from it when the hammer is cocked. I have taken some material off the back of the grip safety but I do not want to take to much.

Well I have been working on this all day and I finally got it figured out. The hammer strut was to fat. When I began looking at the components again I discovered that the strut was 1.59" while the strut in my other 1911 were 1.23 so I took one of the other struts out and replaced the questionable one and it now works fine.

Glad you figured it out. Would not have expected such myself. Or is the fat part made to be fitted?
