I have an opportunity to obtain a Randall pistol. The pistol appears comparable in size to a Government model 1911A1. I recall reading somewhere that these pistols had a reputation for galling. Is there a chance that a later manufactured model would be less prone to galling rather than an earlier piece? Is there a website for Randalls where I could confirm the approximate date of manufacture assuming I could provide the serial number? Are these pistols reliable and accurate? Any information you may provide is sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

Paniolo:

First, try: http://www.randall45.com/ for a Randall Collectors Sight.

I have a Randall 111 - very reliable, accurate, well made pistol - a real joy to shoot. As for the galling, I've only read about it - don't know anyone who actually has a Randall who has/had this problem.

hope this helps,

regards,

Roger
