The forum has indicated that some shops (Baer) are saying that they make their own slides and frames, while this is being disputed by others saying Baer are getting them from a supplier. It has been indicated that Kimber and Wilson are the same. I even heard that S&W forgings are bought by Kimber. What is the Skinny? Who makes the frames and slides, and who is buying them. Can someone list who is making frames and slide and who is getting what from where:

Springfield
Kimber
Brown
Les Baer
Rock River
Wilson
S&W
etc...

I think if you do a search you can come up with some of this info, I seem to remember something similar a little while back. You might try key word "jerico" (sp?) as they build frames for a couple of the bigger names.

I agree, do a search. Lots written on this subject. It was indeed an extremely lively discussion but very informative. You can learn alot on this board. I don't think much has changed since that post. Only exception I can think of, is Rock River Arms changed venders for their slides and frames. I'd be interested in knowing who their new source is. Anyone know? Sam

There may be some semantic games here. Until the slide rails are cut into the frame, it is not a frame, under the relevant ATF regs. So it doesn't matter who makes the frame blank, it's whoever cuts the slide rails is the legal manufacturer.
