| Pearce Grips
Now that I've gotten my $99.00 Makarov I'd greatly appreciate some info on the Pearce Grips offered by Makarov.com. Do they have a solid type backing? Or, are they just a big glob of rubber? (for lack of a better way to describe them) In the 80's I got some Pachmayrs for my Sig 226 and they had no solid backing at all. Just pure rubber, or whatever they were made out of. If one would squeeze hard enough the springs in the handle would even bind. I very soon replaced them with another brand which were made just like the originals except for a cushioned feel. Does this make sense? I'd like to replace these plastic grips on my Mak but don't want to get in the same boat. Any/all info will be greatly appreciated. |

| Pearce are rubber
The Pearce grips are indeed rubber but, they are quite solid and will not sqeeze that easily. Try a set I am sure you will like them. Gary |

I tried a Pearce on my Makarov and liked it, it has a good feel and it's a little larger grip than the original. The Pearce also soaks up a little of the shock when your shooting. I have now bought another for my second Makarov, get the Pearce it will be $ well spent. An added plus is the gun looks better with the Pearce grip. john |

| Thanks
Well, my order got here today from Makarov.com. Thanks to you that recommended the Pearce grips! I can already tell they'll be a most welcomed addition. Now, off to the range this weekend to check out the Barnaul FMJ's and 19lb. Wolff recoil spring. Next comes a few new magazines and some better sights. Bummer though, Novak only sells through Makarov.com who isn't doing any sight work for awhile. Guess I'll make do with sight paint for now. What a wonderfully simple and well built little pistol. I can easily see why they're so popular. |

I really like Pearce grips use while shooting my Maks but for carry I prefer the grips on my Bulgie Mak which, is seen below. I don't know where I found these grips but they were not expensive and work well. Regards, Richard ![]() |

I use and like Pearce grips on one of my Maks. They are tops at the range. Mine tend to get a little slippery when the gun gets hot and the lube starts migrating to the outside. My carry Mak ,spelled favorite Mak, wears Mak a Wrap grips. |

guypowell, my Bulgie Mak was hard chromed by Virgil Tripp but he no longer does this work. The Novak night sights were installed by Marianne Carniak of the Accurizer Gunshop in Troy, MI and I no longer remember where I got the grips but I like them. If I wanted a handgun refinished I would contact Ford's Guns in FL as they do great work. Regards, Richard |
