Replace rear sight

I was lucky enough to win a Chinese Makarov at a local gun show. I really like the firearm, very reliable and accurate.

The only thing I don't like is the rear sight, a weak adjustable blade sight.

I put white paint on the front sight but the sight picture is still hard to acquire

Any suggestions for replacing the rear sight?

There weren't a lot of after market Makarov sights made.
Most were discontinued after the big import wave ended.
Most were for the fixed sight versions or the IJ 70 version that was a much larger adjustable sight.

You might contact the Brownell's Tech Staff people and ask them if they know of anything that might be available.

A fast Bing search turned up:

XS Sight Systems, Inc. - Products - Makarov-Bulgarian

PARTS LIST - MAKAROV Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts
(Sold out of adjustable sight parts).

Possibly a standard non-adjustable sight would fit the dovetail, in which case the XS sight might work.
You might email them and ask if they know.

XS Sights

I sent a request to XS Sights to ask for a real photo of sights mounted on a Mak.
I'll take not-adjustable rear sight if it fits existing dovetail.

Thanks for the info.

Go to the Kitchen Table Gunsmith, kthunsmith.com, There is an article posted for Improving the FEG PA63 9x18 Makarov. In this article it details replacing the Mak sights with ones from Novak Sights. using fixed sights for a Colt Mustang or .380 auto. Sounds doable but probably need to have it done by a gunsmith with the right equipment.

Thanks

I found the website you mentioned at Improving the FEG PA63 9x18 Makarov . It's a very good read. I'll take that to my local gunsmith to discuss the sight replacement.
