| Saved my life
Good day to all. Glad to be able to learn a little more each day and I feel this will be the place. I own 27 different 1911's, with only a few other auto's and several wheel guns. My love for the 1911 started in 1968 in Vietnam. The tet offensive broke out on my first tour of duty. With the 101st Abn. Div. in the city of Hue when all hell broke out. Our unit and a unit of Marines were pinned down when I had trouble with my M-16. Trying to get it back in action when I looked up to find 2 NVA soldiers running at me firing AK-47's. My father who served in Korea had sent me his Remington Rand 45 to use as a back up. I had just seconds to save my life, picked up the 45 and put two rounds each in both of them. Army issue 230 grn ball ammo. The first two were center chest on the first one and second soldier took two, one in the neck and the other in his chin. Both down and to this day I thank Dad, and God, and not forgetting John M. Browning. So goes my life for the 1911. To me, the greatest handgun "EVER" Thanks for listening to my story and for having me with-in this great site. Hope to learn more about the 1911 and other firearms. Support our men and women.. This is the best country in the whole world!!!!

I was glad to serve my country and I'd do it all over again, and I was with 101st Abn Div. 2/502 we were stationed on Camp Eagle and Camp Evans. And for several months we were attached to a platoon of Koren Rock soldiers and man were those boys some mean wicked soldiers.
