Old Soldier in Georgia

Hello, I am new to this site but not new to firearms. I was trained as a unit armorer in the Army. I have qualified on a lot of weapons though I have always said that the Army should have not gotten rid of the M14. The M16 has never been totally reliable. Too many jams due to too tight of spacing between the bolt and the receiver. I have had over time a variety of pistols and rifles. Right now I am down to just a couple since I went through a period after the Gulf War where it was not advisable for me to have a firearm at the ready. Other vets will understand that. I recently bought me a SCCY CPX-2. I heard several say that it was not any good and real easy to break the recoil spring guide rod. Others had different stories to tell though. I went over it after buying it, and for the money it is a good weapon. Good, Not perfect. The guide rod could be a weak point but with proper weapon care I do not see any problem. I do plan on modifying it though. The present recoil spring is a 16 lb., I am going to buy an upgrade part which is a 20 lb. with a stainless steel guide rod. I am also going to buy an adjustable trigger to reduce the travel distance. I have already, since it is a polymer body pistol, outfitted it with Talon Grips. Has a nice firm feel now.
