| Info on Jesse E. Harpe, Pistolsmith
This is my first post. I have enjoyed reading the info on the forum. It is a great site. I would like to ask if anybody knows anything about a pistolsmith named Jesse E. Harpe? I remember reading years ago he was considered a very good pistolsmith when it came to building match grade 1911's. He apparently did most of his work in the 30's, 40's and 50's. I can't find much on the internet about him but I did find mention of him in a few posts on this forum. I wish I could remember what magazine I read that talked about his work but can't. The reason I'm asking is I think I found a pistol he worked on. It is a 1942 Colt 1911-A1. The bushing, mainspring housing and the disconnector rail of the slide have Harpe stamped on them. Thanks for your help. |
