1911 commander dimensions

There was a question on what the dimension differences were between the full size frame and the commander frame - can't find the Q & A - anybody got the answer please - Thanks.

In the frame, the rails are .080 shorter and the impact abutment for the slide is set back .080 inch. Other dimensions are the same.

On the barrel, the extension forward of the 3rd lug on the 5-inch barrel is missing on the Commander barrel to keep the bushing from hitting it. The front portion of the lower barrel lug is vertical instead of being ramped like the 5-inch barrel to keep the rear face of the guide rod flange from contacting it when the gun is in battery.

I've always been told the difference is "one tenth" of an inch. Gary Smith, the general manager at Caspian Arms, once gave me a dimension in decimals that I have lost, but I'm pretty certain it was .09x"

.080 sounds too small.

Don't forget the forward extension of the frame recoil spring tunnel is also shorter on the Commander.

Aquila...You are correct. I must've been in a rush the other day and had .080 on my mind for some reason.

The difference is .100 inch. Sorry for the brainfart.

I remember what it was now. I'd just answered a question about shock buffs, and how much they reduced slide travel. I referred the guy to Hiett buffs...if he could find any, and that they came in three thicknesses. .125-inch. .100 inch and .080 inch...if memory serves me.
