| Help Needed to get a roll trigger.
I shoot bullseye and have been trying to get a roll trigger in my 1911 bullseye guns. I've had very mixed results. I would appreciate any suggestions from those who have done roll triggers. Thanks, Art |

C&S SFS system? Double Eagle? I'm not sure if I'm understanding the question. You want a pivoting trigger as opposed to a sliding one in a 1911?

No, I was looking for help in stoning a roll trigger - a roll trigger is used by some bullseye shooters instead of a crisp (glass rod breaking) trigger. A roll trigger has felt movement as the sear slides out from the hammer hooks - no creep, jerks, starts or stops. It's just a few thousandths slide-like movement. |

I think I remember with a roll trigger the lower aspect of the sear has been slightly radiused and generally the hammer hooks are longer by 5 hundredths or so to make the break feel different. Don't take this as "gospel" information, just dragged up from my sometimes foggy memory. Ray |

IIRC, there was a trigger that had ball bearings inset like the cylinder locks of the "Triple Lock" revolver from S&W. Those fell out of favor as costly to make and purchase. Also, people found that it was not an advantage of a properly set up trigger assembly. |

Raymond, that's one of the classic recipes - the "edge" between the primary cut and secondary cuts of the sear is rounded and longish hammer hooks are needed. Johnny T, I have one of Warner's True Radius sear jigs and with some hammers I've got some roll. I haven't had consistant or predicatable results and was hoping for the Magic Answer. Long hammer hooks don't always result in a roll, I did one trigger job with a Colt hammer that has .026" hooks and got a superb crisp trigger...... I just need to do more and look closer at what I'm doing. |
