| 1911 style EAA Witness, thumb safety not working well
Hello! So this is my first post on the site regarding my "NEW" pre-owned Wintess from the late 1970's. I bought it as a fixer-upper and am nearly done. This is my first 1911 style pistol and I'm having difficulty with the thumb safety on the right side. When the slide is removed, the safety works perfectly. However, it fails to engage when the slide is installed. Any suggestions? I'm stumped.

If it's fitting the notch in the slide, then I'd look at the disconnector.

Thanks. For some of reason that notch does not appear tp be lining up. It lines up if I pull the slide back 1/16". Any idea why?

Either one or both parts is out of spec. Can you find another gun or maybe pic for comparison?
