Looking for info/help in picking a 1911-22 conversion kit to put on either a Colt Lightweight Commander (.45) or a Ruger SR1911 CMD (9mm). I'm leaning towards the Nelson Conversion kit; but I've read that the Marvel Unit 1 and the Advantage Arms kits are pretty decent too. Anybody got one of these kits, or have some good info to share?

22 Conversion Unit

I haven't been on the forum since Christmas. Sorry I missed your post then and you probably have one by now. Anyway, I have experience with the Marvel conversion and have used one for the past few years shooting Bullseye Pistol matches in NC. Works great and holds a very tight group. I have tried the Bob Marvel Pro Custom II. I was in Bob's 1911 build class last year and invited him to come along with me to our weekly practice match (we shoot the 22 caliber portion of the national match on Thursday nights). Bob said he had a prior engagement but sent his personal gun for me to try. It worked very well and had a fantastic trigger. He pointed out the refinements he made on each successive design and recommended I order a Nelson. I did at Christmas and am still waiting. If you don't need to shoot tight groups at 50 yards then a Kimber 22 conversion is a little cheaper. I sold 1 earlier this month for around $225 and sold my Marvel for $350. Bob taught me a lot and I'm getting pretty good at trigger work now thanks to him.
