Any one with experience with his shop? How does Mr. Liebenberg's work compare to Heinie, Garthwaite, Vickers, Hoag, etc?

A friend of mine's has one of Paul Liebenberg's "carry comp" models. The workmanship is beautiful. I say it's comparable to the best guys out there (Heinie, Hoag, Garthwaite...etc). Also, I've put a couple hundred rounds through that pistol and my friend says he has about 5K + rounds through it without a hitch. I have no reason to doubt him.

His work has always been a step above most and easily equal to any of those mentioned.

Take a early commercial Colt add a flat main, a 5" barrel, and my name and you are looking at what I have on order

Paul was "The" master pistolsmith at Pachmayer in the 80's, and there was none better at that time.

IMHO, there are several pistol smiths making better pistols today if you compare their work to that of Pauls' in the 80's.However, I have not seen Paul's work "today", and would not want to judge him to others without doing so.

I definitely would like to handle one of his current pistols for comparison.

While I have not seen one of Paul's guns old or new in person I have a gun from one of Pachmayr's smith that predated Paul's work and helped get the Combat Specials off the ground. That smith is Craig Wetstein. If his work is any indication of what came later and what I have seen of Paul's in pictures old and new, I have to wonder who if anyone is building better guns? I have not seen anyone surpass my Wetstein gun yet. A very few guys building at a similar level maybe, more hype claiming it, than producing it. The metal work has improved because of the mills available and the machinists involved but the attention to detail has not improved IMO.

Hoser, from the pistols I have seen and some I have shot from the builders on your list, if you had them all laying side by side by side...and I could only grab with one hand? Hmmmm, I would grab Paul's first and then beg the guy who took Hoag's to sell it to me.
