I thought you all would want to see this new beauty. This is a 9mm 1911 built by Victor Tibbets in Berryville, Arkansas. I have put about 2000 rounds through it without a single hiccup. The finish is hard chrome and the slide is brushed. The magwell is a Heinie wrap-around, Caspian flat-top slide, Schuemann barrel, 30 lpi checkering front and back, beveled & recessed barrel and Ininity trigger group. This pistol is capable of a 1-hole group at 25 yds. Hope you all like !! See 2 pictures at : http://www.wichitaidpa.com/tibbets.htm Vic Tibbets can be found at : http://www.classichandguns.com [ This Message was edited by: Steve Broom on 2002-05-22 07:37 ] |

Matt, It took about 4 months and it was worth every second. I have handled a LOT of 1911s and this is second-to-none in my experience. The time and workmanship that Vic puts into his work is exceptional, I could not be happier. If you are looking to have a unique, second to none pistol built, I would recommend no other. http://www.classichandguns.com Good Shooting All !! |

Thank you Dane, I am very proud of it. I am glad that you like it as well. I sound like a broken record talking about Vic, but he was the most professional and curteous business person I have dealt with in quite some time. My entire experience has been pleasant and I hope that some other shooters have a chance to experience owning a pistol this nice. Thanks again...

I am sure you haven't noticed as yet...but let me point it out to you.......IT SHOULD BE MINE, all MINE!  Then it would be perfect and you a saint for giving it to me  Be nice if you could have actually posted the pictures it is worth seeing the gun. Matt, I had the pistol built for IDPA competition in ESP division. In the IDPA game, the ultimate gun is a single action, very light recoiling 9mm that WORKS, and that is exactly what this is. I have used it in USPSA competition as well and actually won a large match shooting minor power factor. Of course Vic can build any caliber you would want. I had early concerns of functionality with the 9mm cartridge in a 1911 which is notorious for problems. However, this pistol functions 100% with lots of different ammo, dirty, various magazines, you name it.

Vic, if you're watching, I asked the Foreign Guys, you know who I mean, about you. They gave you a very high rating and you know what that means coming from them. The pic proves it. Steve Broom, lucky boy!

Bruce, the grips are "Burner Grips" from Jerry Barnhart. I prefer a very rough grip surface and dont like to use skate tape. Vic made the 30 lpi checkering sharp for me and added these grips to give total control for me. The grips are wood with a permanant grit texture on them that is washable and lasts a long time.

Steve, do you have an address or URL where the "Burner Grips" from Jerry Barnhart are available? If they were used under concealment clothing would they catch on the outer garment when swept back during a draw or when bending at the knees to pick up an object? The pistol is beautiful. Fred |

Fred, the URL for Barnhart's site is ic.net/~burner/ I have been using this Tibbets pistol with these grips for IDPA which requires concealment draw. I havent had any trouble with snagging on my cover garment, but that does depend on what you are wearing too. |

Another outstanding piece of Vic's work. Terry Peters introduced me to Vic at the Tulsa show a year or so ago. Nice guy, excellent work! He does put a crown in a barrel, for sure! Thanks for sharing it with us. Allan |
