Taurus saga ends

After using it for 39 rounds and sending it back for replacement (they refused) I talked the dealer into taking it in trade (small bath) for a S & W 627. All the difference in the world. I will never buy a Taurus again.

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune with Taurus, but welcome the S&W bandwagon! I also
had quite a spat with Taurus, and as a result they have a negative advertiser.....

I've had good luck with the Taurus warranty. About 10 years ago, I had a Model 85 blow up. Taurus replaced the gun at no charge. As soon as the replacement arrived, I traded it for a Model 605. After a few thousand rounds, the trigger struct broke. I returned it and Taurus replaced it at no charge. The day the replacement arrived, I traded it for a Smith 649. I haven't had a problem with Taurus since.....I don't and won't own one.

I had good warranty service but I don't trust the product,

John

I will not buy a Taurus revolver because of all the problems I've personally seen on the range with them through the years. I've seen new snubbys not work right out of the box. Judging by their looks you'd think they were like a Smith & Wesson J frame but nothing could be further from the truth, they're very different.

Since then

I bought a carry pistol for my girl friend and the dealer said he wouldn't recommend Taurus to anyone. It's a shame, they look good and have some good features but if you can't reley on it it's worse than useless and can get you killed. I bought her a M640, S & W.

The 640 Smith & Wesson is an excellent choice, in fact I have one in my pocket right now...

?

I have three and haven't had a problem with any. Others I've had didn't give me any trouble either. Must be operator error.
