:D New member here! need some info. I have a Freedom Arms Mod. 83 in .475 Linebaugh. Someone told me you can shoot the .480 cartridge in it much the same as a .44 Sp. in a .44 mag....If true this opens up more ammo options for me. Any help is much appreciated!

You are correct - the .480 Ruger is a shortened .475 Linebaugh. You can shoot the .480 from a .475 revolver but it's not necessarily a good idea. The least that will happen is fouling in the cylinder that may prevent a .475 Linebaugh cartridge from going all the way into the chamber unless you give it a good cleaning first. You can also get gas cutting in the chamber since the shorter brass doesn't reach all the way to the cylinder throat.

Let us know if you get an answer from Freedom Arms.
