| Tarus 941 trigger work
I am doing a trigger job on a Tarus 941 in .22 mag. The original double action pull was over 16 pounds and the single action pull over 6.5 pounds. I called Tarus and they said that the heavy pull was necessary for reliable function. I did some internal polishing and cut 2.5 coils off both the main and trigger return spring. The pull is now smooth and 12 pounds double action and 3.5 single action. The pistol is reliable with CCI ammo. How much more, if any, can I cut off the springs and still be reliable? Would either of the Wolff springs kits from Brownells work in the 941? |

Tom, I had the same problem on a 941 22LR, and I believe you've got about the best you can do with it. After polishing every internal contact points I could, and some that probably didn't make a difference, and cutting the same coils, I ended up with a little better at 11# and 3#, and I wouldn't chance anything past the 2.5 coils if you want reliable ignition. Those early Taurus just don't have the design for customization like a Smith. Also, Wolf doesn't recommend their spring kits for the 941. Hope this helps. David (File and Stone)

I cant say I'm familiar with that gun model but I jsut switched our my sear springs on a 1911 with Wilson Combat springs and the difference in trigger pull was worth ten times what I paid for the springs. What I'm saying is these aftermarket parts people are focusing on superior performance and might be worth taking the chance and installing their parts. Springs usually dont cost that much; mine were 6.00 each.
