CQB to 600yds.

I"m looking for information and sugggestions on a semi-auto 223 to handle from cqb to 600 yds.I would prefer one thats has the ability to use military issue magazines and other related accesories.Size and especially weight are considerations,as well as reliability.

Bushmaster, but 600 yards for 223 is the far end of range imo.

It would be hard to go wrong with almost anything built by Bushmaster, Armalite, Colt, or Rock River.

CQB is much easier with a shorter barrel, but for .223 it's going to limit the effective range quite a bit. I personally think the ease of use and light weight of a 16" carbine outweight the longer range value of the 20" models.

I just decided the very same thing and now have a Bushmaster M4A2 with Trijicon T47-2 ACOG.

My Bushy is a 16" too. For the 400+ I go 308.

You sure lose a lot of oomph out at 600 yards....My next battle
rifle will be an M1a with the scout mount and an Aimpoint M2.

Nice choice. I've tried lots but I still come back to my Remy 700 police for long range work. A consistent tack driver although without the "Assault" componant. M1A's with match barrels are a great way to go but keep em clean for reliability. Does anyone have the lowdown on the 308 Bushy?

He did set the parameters at 223 and CQB. I stayed with those guidelines.
In 223 I too would use my Remington PSS for that long of a shot provided I had the time and knew the distance well before hand. If Curt is looking for a CQB 223 that would be used at normal distances and then at the 600 yard range as a last resort I still stand behind the AR as a non-precision rifle is not its first role but could fill in if another is not available that would be better suited. I did have an Armalite Ar10T when they first came out but found it too heavy and large to use as an all around AR type weapon. The beauty of the M4 is the size to weight ratio.
