Overheat??

Hello, I'm new to this rifle stuff so bear with me. I've read that you can overheat a barrel and ruin it. So the question is how many rounds, of say XM193, does it take to overheat a barrel and screw it up forever? The barrel in question is a 20" chrome 1 in 9 twist. Thanks

Unless you are shooting full auto and doing it regularly you should not have to worry. Shooting XM193 does help prolong the life as well as chrome lining. The 1 in 9 twist is a good compromise. It really just is not going to make a lot of difference in semi AR during normal use. Round count is not something you can say each and every barrel should reach because every specimen is different. I have one SP1 rifle with well over 20k rounds and is still acceptably accurate.
