Does anyone know if this pistol is out there somewhere?

I've never seen one w/o the light rail, only nickled. Doesn't mean they don't exist, just that I've never seen one.....maybe a talented machinist could mill them off of a LR equipped model as a last resort. |

It would take talent. I like the "original" look, but I'd like stainless.

Hard chrome is great but the weight of the stainless is what I'd like - just without the rail.

I know what you mean. I carried a P220 as a duty pistol for a while and now that I've worked on several P220 ST's, I think I'd carry one of those instead. I don't know what to tell you about the rail - I don't know if Sig ever made one in stainless without the rail. At least it's a small rail.

| 220ST w/o the Light Rail
I don't think they offer an ST model without the rail (unlike the standard alloy model which comes in both formats). What you might consider is looking for one of the original ST models that had Euro/Sig proprietary rail that was considerably narrower compared to the current generation. That can be found without too much trouble, but there may be some shipping involved. From there, if you still wanted to lose the rail, I suppose a talented smith could grind it off, then blend/polish/bead blast the whole frame to make it match. You'd have to ask a professional on how 'do-able' it might be. I would think the project, to come out right, meaning single facets and proper contours, would be more difficult than it looks. If you can find good condition used 220ST's, the ones with the narrow rails usually demand a lower price (due to the practically unuseable rail without an adapter), so it might be an interesting experiment/project, depending on how much you like to gamble. Just my $.02 worth. Stay Safe, BOSS |
